Dawn Approach completes a well-deserved hat-trick in the Alfred Nobel Rochestown Stakes
Paired with rider K.J. Manning, the two-year-old colt, Dawn Approach, gained a new fanbase, when he landed a magnificent victory at Naas that completed the hat-trick for the young runner.
The son of New Approach, out of mare Hymn Of The Dawn, lived up to the hype and crushed all competition in the Alfred Nobel Rochestown Stakes at Naas on 4th June, 2011, where he raced with the favoured
odds of 4-9.
Dawn Approach’s stamina was tested as he had to battle with the Richard Hannon trained Mister Marc, but he showed his potential and racing skills, as he finished by 2 ¾ lengths ahead of him, whereas the third place was secured by G.M. Lyons’s charge,
Tennessee Wildcat.
The chestnut colt previously claimed a victory at Naas when he competed in the Fishery Lane Race on 16th May, 2012, where he blossomed under Manning’s command and finished 5 ½ lengths ahead of the P.J. Prendergast trained, Canary
Row.
The Mrs. J.S. Bolger owned colt raised the bar for himself with his phenomenal career maiden as he raced as the evening’s favourite in the Tally Ho Stud European Breeders Fund 2yo Maiden on 25th March, 2012, at Curragh and defeated,
Canary Row, by 1 ¾ lengths while the third place was secured by Forester.
Jim Bolger discussed the future plans for his runner and stated that:
"He'll go to Ascot for either the Coventry or the Chesham. He has the choice. Kevin said they went five-furlong pace the whole way. It was a fierce gallop but he stuck at it well.
"Trip doesn't really matter to him. Like most horses he would like better ground. That was a little bit loose but he handled soft ground at the Curragh and he's fairly versatile ground-wise.
"He's got a great temperament. I'd prefer really good ground for him."
Time and time again, this runner has proven himself worthy of racing, and looking at his age, he definitely has a bright future ahead of him. K.J. Manning has brought out the best in him and it doesn’t matter where he races, he is bound to flourish.
