Dawn Approach expected to win Coventry Stakes
Dawn Approach will surely approach at the top of the podium when he participates in the Coventry Stakes (Group 2) at Ascot racecourse on Tuesday, June 19. The high-profile Class 1 contest is set to start at 4:25 (GMT).
For the prize cheque worth £48,204, the J. S. Bolger-trained novice colt will test his racing credentials against 22 worthy rivals that include some big wigs like Artigiano, Heavy Metal, Indian Jade and Sir Prancealot. The race will go down on the good to
soft track of 6 furlongs.
Dawn Approach owns a marvellous track record as the two-year-old novice runner has won all the three races of his career so far.
The maverick sprinter staged a stunning debut on March 25, 2012 and moved on to accomplish grand triumphs in both the subsequent races. Interestingly, he ran every time with a favourite tag. This is the most plus point of the young colt.
Dawn Approach will be driven today by K. J. Manning who has been his regular jockey since the very beginning.
The talented son of New Approach out of Hymn Of The Dawn is awash with winning momentum and fighting spirit that augur well for him regarding his going in the Coventry Stakes.
Despite the fact that Dawn Approach looks to be the strongest candidate on the card, Artigiano has reasonable chances to finish first today.
The Mahmood Al Zarooni-trained novice colt started his career with a third on May 17, 2012. The momentous sprinter stepped ahead to break his maiden in his second and last start on May 28.
In both of these races, the son of Distorted Humor out of Angel Craft was ridden by Frankie Dettori.
Thus, there is likely to be a fierce battle between Dawn Approach and Artigiano.
Among the other runners, Heavy Metal will also be able to perform well in the race. The Mark Johnston-trained bay colt marvellously bagged a couple of consecutive victories in May 2012. He stepped ahead to finish as a runner-up in his last outing on June
2.
Indian Jade and Sir Prancealot will also show decent runs today. By and large, there will be a rip-roaring and thrilling clash in the Stakes. Let us see who manages to thrive. Good luck to all the runners.
