Dawn Approach to appear in Qipco Sussex Stakes but Farhh misses out – Horseracing news
Dawn Approach is likely to appear in the Qipco Sussex Stakes whereas Farhh will miss out of the event.
Both of the stallions are owned by Godolphin and it would have been quite an exciting thing to watch them battle against each other, but the current circumstances suggest that there is no possibility of such a clash.
According to Godolphin’s racing manager Simon Crisford, “Dawn Approach will either go for the Sussex Stakes or Prix Jacques le Marois [at Deauville in August]. Farhh is going to take a bit of time so we hope he will be back towards the end of the season.”
Although the event is scheduled to take place at the end of July, some top quality runners have been lined up for action at Goodwood. However, there is quite a lot of time left in the event, which means that none of the participants are confirmed yet.
The organisers at the venue will be hoping that all of the top performers are fit for the all-important competition and represent their respective owners with full strength.
In the absence of Farhh, the bookies and punters will divert their attention towards Dawn Approach, who has a phenomenal record in the sport. He has an excellent strike rate, winning eight races out of nice appearances, which clearly shows what he is capable
of achieving.
The three-year-old colt would have had a 100 percent winning record, had he not been involved in a collision with one of his rivals in the Investec Derby. After the incident, which took place right at the start of the race, he went completely out of control
and the jockey Kevin Manning had no clue of what was happening.
However, Dawn Approach recovered from that incident pretty quickly and was back in action at the Royal Ascot, where he managed to win by a short head distance. Although the margin of his victory was not impressive, yet it proved that the champion horse was
back to the winning ways and will get better with the passage of time. He will definitely prepare in the best way for the Qipco Sussex Stakes and might end up dominating the contest.
