Dawn Approach to bring back the fifth Dubai Dewhurst Stakes for trainer, Jim Bolger
Trainer, Jim Bolger, has won the Group 1 Dubai Dewhurst Stakes four times in the last six years, and is relying heavily upon Dawn Approach to get the title for a fifth time. In 2006, he won it with Teofilo, then with New Approach the next year, and struck
a hat-trick by bringing in the title to the stable with Intense Focus in 2008. After losing it twice in a row, the Coolcullen stable won it again in 2011 with Parish Hall.
The wheel has come full circle for the trainer who is now racing New Approach’s son, Dawn Approach, in the Dewhurst Stakes.
"One thing that they very much have in common is the will to win," Bolger said of the two horses.
"Dawn Approach has a great temperament and showed us almost from the word go," Bolger said. "His five races don't seem to have taken anything out of him and we've had absolutely no problems with him. Just watching him, you could see this fellow had something
-- he has a terrific action. He is able to quicken up when the need arises in his races and loves his racing. He's right up there, ability-wise, with New Approach but he may not stay as well as he did."
Right after Dawn Approach’s success in the Group 1 Goffs Vincent O’Brien Stakes on 15th September, 2012, Vice President of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, bought a significant controlling share in the two-year-old unbeaten
colt.
Following the partnership in ownership of the colt out of, Hymn Of The Dawn, the racing marvel will don the royal blue silks of the Godolphin operations. Now this is something that no horse has achieved until and unless they get under the conditioning of
either trainer, Mahmood Al Zarooni or Saeed bin Suroor.
The 2 to 5 entry of the race will ride with Jim Bolger’s son-in-law, Kevin Manning, and the duo will take flight from the third stall.
The race is highly likely to close the 2012 campaign for the abundantly successful colt.
