Dawn Approach to shine in the Alfred Nobel Rochestown Stakes at Naas
The Alfred Nobel Rochestown Stakes will be staged at Naas over six furlongs on Monday, 4th June. The race has attracted a line-up of seven two-year-old runners. The prize money for the winner is set at €39,000.
The most promising entry for the race is Dawn Approach, New Approach’s two-year-old chestnut colt out of mare, Hymn Of The Dawn. His career debut was in the Tally Ho Stud European Breeders Fund 2YO Maiden on 25th March at Curragh over five furlongs.
He won as the evening’s favourite while paired up with K. J. Manning and the two led the track of eight by 1 ¾ lengths. Finishing the closest to the winner was Canary Row.
Coming at terms with the third position was Forester.
Dawn Approach raced his second race of the career and was successful in that too. He was the 4/6 favourite winner of the Fishery Lane Race on 16th May at Naas over six furlongs.
Settling as the runner up of the race was Canary Row who missed the race by a good five and a half lengths. Parking third in line behind the winner was Tennessee Wildcat.
He is the only entry who had a chance to race at Naas through the most recent race and had it credited against his name as a second in row victory.
The Irish colt will be paired up with K. J. Manning for a third time during the third outing of the career. He should notch up the unbeaten career till yet to a hat trick.
There are a handful of those who have posted career wins through their career debuts.
The two-year-old Cougar Ridge cleared his maiden on 13th May at Leopardstown over six furlongs and that too as the 11/10 favourite.
Another notable entry who has cleared the maiden stakes on the very first chance is Mister Marc. He claimed the maiden on 26th May at Goodwood over six furlongs. He set the 2/1 favourite of the race, The Gold Cheongsam, in the third slot.
Thus the line-up is potentially threatening but Dawn Approach enjoys the edge and the highest of the chances.
