Dawn Commander likely to win Novices’ Hurdle at Market Rasen
Dawn Commander is expected to demonstrate a decent run at Market Rasen and grab top spot in the high-voltage Class 4 contest of the Inkermans Novices’ Hurdle on Tuesday, March 27.
The Charlie Longsdon-trained grey gelding is all ready to compete against half a dozen rivals including All The Remains, Dunraven Prince, Finnegan Paddy, Jonny Rye, Midnight Gamble and Silver By Choice.
For £2,534 of prize money, the mega marathon over 3m distance will commence at 4:50 (GMT). Each of the above runners will struggle daringly for success but Dawn Commander is likely to make the breakthrough.
The novice runner started his career in April 2011. During October 2011, the maverick horse bagged a couple of consecutive victories.
The five-year-old young sprinter went on to grab third spot in a big race on December 8. He extended his winning momentum to 2012 as well and finished seventh in a tough contest on January 1.
The Alan Halsall-owned talented gelding accomplished a runner-up rank in his second last start on February 29. In his last outing on March 16, he elegantly grabbed 13th position against 19 competitors.
Thus, Dawn Commander has proved his excellent racing skills well, earning £6,465 as prize money. His chances to finish first in today’s race are as high as 90 percent provided he manages to sustain his stamina.
Among the other runners, Finnegan Paddy and Jonny Rye are likely to perform well and give enough tough time to the favourite gelding.
Finnegan Paddy nicely achieved two runner-up ranks in a row on January 20 and March 10, 2012. Since starting his career in November 2010, the Tim Vaughan-trained gelding has bagged just one triumph to date.
On the other hand, Jonny Rye has run for just two times to date, finishing fourth in the maiden and getting third spot in the second race. Both the races were held during the first two decades of March 2012.
Come what may, success seems to be leaning towards Dawn Commander. However, the hot favourite runner will have to exhibit his utmost effort on the track. Let us enjoy the heated action and see who gains what. Good luck to all the contestants.
