Day 1 at Diamond CC: Rain suspends round of the Austrian Open
Like every other year, this year has also been very successful for the European Tour. The Tour has gone through most part of the Europe and now it is time for the 2012 Lyoness Open powered by Greenfinity.
This prestigious event is being hosted at the Diamond Country Club in Atzenbrugg, Austria. The best players of the sport are going to gather at this auspicious event to fight for the Austrian crown. This is going to be a four-day battle, starting from the
25th of July and will end on the 28th of July.
Last year, this Open was won by English professional golfer Kenneth Ferrie. This year Ferrie will be looking to defend his title against the golf giants and to become the Austrian Open champion again.
Fans have tremendous amount of expectations from the tournament and are sure they will be surprised by the players yet again. This is a difficult course and players are going to try their best to impress the crowd, some might succeed while others will fail.
One of the most awaited golf events finally started off. As expected, the weather conditions were not going to be favourable for the players. The rain had already made the course very damp. It was creating difficulty for the players.
Gradually the weather conditions worsened and the play had to be finally stopped. Some of the players who had an early start were able to complete their game. Still, many were left.
It was a very interesting start to the first day. Pablo Larrazabal was a player who was able to complete his first round. He had six birdies and an eagle on the day. These made his score eight-under par.
Before the day was stopped by rain, the Spanish professional golfer was on top of the leader board. One stroke clear from the player on the second spot, Thorbjorn Olesen.
At that time, Olesen had a score of seven-under par and he had played only fourteen holes on the day. He still had four holes left in the first round in which he can climb to the top of the leaderboard.
