Hiya. Being crew for Virgin Atlantic I'm stopping in Paris for one full day and night; and then till early afternoon the next day before flying out again. Does anyone know where any markets or good (cheap or moderate pricing) shops are near the eiffel? Just want to get some souveniers and wine. Maps, pictures and helpfull instructions win my best answer. Cheers heaps guys!

  1. Hi, Near of Eiffel Tower, there are only shops for tourists !!

There are many "stores MONOPRIX", open from the morning to 9.30 pm, you can buy souvenir, wines etc ..moderate prices,.you can find one 52, Avenue des Champs Elysées.

I agree with "Nicolas", a very good wines shops, in Airport there are many shops "Duty Free" before your flight, but I don't know if the crews have the right, Welcome in Paris.

  2. I would say that the best area for you to go would be Saint Michel in the 5th arrondissement.

There are lots of touristy shops for souvenirs, and cafés, and there's enough interest for general wandering for a day.

Get off at Metro Odéon or Saint Michel.

If you want to go to a general shopping centre, there's one at Gare Montparnasse. More interesting (but potentially more expensive) shopping is available at Rue du Bac, or at the big department stores Galeries Lafayette and Printemps (Metro Havre Caumartin)

    Enjoy your stopover!

  3. For wine, what about going to a Nicolas store : great choice, great prices, great quality. A reference in France.

Just enter "tour eiffel", "France". Nearest store : champs de mars. A few meters of the Eiffel Tower, on the left.

You can find more touristic shops near Hotel de Ville and Centre Pompidou in the walking streets

or in the commercial center Chatelet les Halles (metro. RER, Chatelet Les Halles). http://i-eclectica.org/wordpress/wp-cont...
