I ordered chinese food last night at around 10 pm. I ate only about half of it but forgot to refrigerate the rest - what are the chances that it's still okay to eat? I got general gao's chicken with pork fried rice.

  1. I wouldn't eat it but I don't think you wil die if you eat it.  It's your choice. I'd rather be safe then sorry.

  2. I think if it exceed 12 hours you shouldn't eat it.

  3. I think it would be ok. I once ate some barbequed chicken that had been left out for 2 days I didnt get sick

  4. I would definitely eat it still, 21 hours after you posted your question. It will stay ok for at least 3 days. After that its a gamble

  5. i wouldnt eat since it contains both chicken and pork. salmonela started to set in already since you left out over night

  6. Well, I eat almost anything, so I would eat it.

    But is it safe?

    Absolutely not.

Always refer to HACCP, the bible of safe food handling.

After 2 hours at room temp the food starts to create bacteria.

At that point you would have to reheat it to 161F to safely eat it again.

After 4 hours at room temp, it's gone and garbage.

But keep in mind that these are strict standards to insure safety.

I have done it before, but no one can guarentee safety.

It will at some point become dangerous after 2 hours at room temp, no one can say exactly when that food will be unsafe to consume.

    It's a c**p shoot.

    Gambler?  -:)

  7. Well personally I myself wouldn't waste it, just quietly.
