Day out for a 16 yo, 11yo and 4yo... near(ish) to Manchester

Question

My mum has offered to look after my sister's children on Monday, and she and I are trying to think of somewhere to take them that's not too far from home... about 1 hour's drive at most.

The 16 year old doesn't like rollercoasters, so blackpool pleasure beach is out

The 11 year old doesn't like anything, so she will have to make do

The 4 year old is actually 3, but nearly 4... so hmm

Any ideas?!

Chester Zoo ? ... zoos usually appeal to all ages and even a sulky 11 year old will have to laugh at the monkeys, surely

How about the museum of science and industry in salford, theres quite a bit of fun stuff to do, and as the weather isn't always nice because it's indoors it won't spoil the day, and best of all it's totally free, unless you want to go to some of the exhibitions they have, and the parking which is £5 ( I think)
