  1. I think you need to elaborate on your question but I'm assuming you mean you want to know what kind of activities are in the area. well first, silver spring has great places to shop. and second its located on the metro's red line. so you can pretty much go anywhere in virginia/maryland/d.c. i would recommend going to Takoma park for shopping or having a picnic in the park.  or go downtown in the evening to see the sights with less people. its really good fun and exercise.

  2. If you're a movie buff, there's the American Film Institute's AFI Silver (8633 Colesville Road). For a sweet tooth, check out either Cake Love (935 Ellsworth Drive) or Moorenko Ice Cream (8030-B Georgia Avenue). There are many good restaurants located in the area: Ray's the Classics, Jackie's, Addis Ababa Ethiopian, Lebanese Taverna or Mandalay to name but a few of our favorites. Mayorga Coffee Factory is also quite good (8040 Georgia Avenue) and often has live music or poetry readings.

For a younger crowd, check out what bands are playing at the Quarry House (8401 Georgia Avenue/downstairs).
