Is it a good Idea? I was thinking of getting the train over early in the morning then comming back later that day. Will I have time to see all the sights or would it be better to book a hotel and stay for a few days...

  1. I just got back from our honeymoon where we spent 4 nights in Paris as part of it. We saw maybe 1/4 of the things we had identified as interesting and wanted to see.

If I was only going to Paris and it was my first time, I'd want to go for minimum a week to see the major sites and some smaller ones. One of the best things about Paris is exploring different quarters that are not so famous and just getting lost.

In 3 or 4 days you can get a great feel for the city but it will definitely leave you wanting more. We can't wait to go back!

  2. Is Garrison serious!?  Boy am I glad I went in December!  I didn't have to wait at all to see the Mona Lisa, but he's right.  Even in slow season, you need a week just to see the most famous sights.  If you took a day trip from London, you might be able to have lunch, see a church, and then go back.  I agree, you want to take at least four or five days, just to walk around!

  3. You're KIDDING... right?  You can't make a day trip from London to Paris and return and see all the sights... You may make a dent in it in a week or 2 but not in just one day quickie.

During the tourist season, it can take a couple of hours just to get to the top of the Eiffel Tower and it can take another hour or two just to see the Mona Lisa once you get to the adjacent room.

You need at least a week if you want to see anything in Paris but the Metro to and from the train station,
