Day two of AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix: Zi He and David Boudia flourish in the semi-finals
At the end of the second day of the AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix, three more divers of the United States of America have qualified for the finals at Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Centre in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Friday, May 6.
In the Women’s 3m springboard semis, Zi He of China picked up the top seed with a tremendous total score of 379.05. She was immensely pleased and satisfied with her performance in the semi-final tonight.
Kelci Bryant of the US earned second with a brilliant total score of 333.90 and Laura Sanchez of Mexico wound up third with a score of 333.75 in the corresponding meet.
“It's really exciting to do what I've been training all year to do,” Bryant said.
Olena Fedorova of Ukraine finished fourth with a total score of 323.50, while Anastasia Pozdniakova of Russia snared the fifth place with a score of 321.70 and Sayaka Shibusawa of Japan settled sixth with 295.60 points.
Meanwhile, David Boudia of USA clinched the Men’s 10m platform semi-final event with a sterling score of 554.10.
“In the prelims, I was just expecting to land on my head and stay consistent and get on the world team. It was great to see Nick make finals too. I'm excited about where we're at, and I'm ready for Sunday,” said Boudia.
He is the most popular diver of America, as he won the gold medal in the platform synchro in the 2007 Pan America Games. He also took the golden crown in the 2010 Diving World Cup.
Bo Qiu of China took second place with a competitive total score of 550.95, while Oleksandr Bondar of Ukraine wound up third with a 492.40 and Matthew Mitcham of Australia earned the fourth place with a total score of 474.90.
On the other hand, Nick McCrory of USA rounded out the top five with a decent total score of 439.35 and Liang Huo of China wound up sixth with a 422.40 in the following meet.
After the completion of the Men’s 10m platform semis, McCrory said that she really enjoyed the day. She was a bit tensed going into the prelims today but she booked her place for the world team and made the finals even if the semi-final was a bit tough for
her.
The crowd was very exciting and supportive for the divers at the end of the second day of the AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix at Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Centre in on Friday.
The qualified divers will compete with others in the finals of the Men’s 3m and Women’s 10m on Saturday, May 7.
