Question:

Daycare For Toddlers?

My toddler is enrolled into a preschool/daycare for Mon-Wed 8-3. Every morning is hard for her and she doesn't want to go at times because of a mean girl and today she told me that she was crying and had to pee on the ground because the teacher did not take her to the bathroom right away (I am guessing because it was the departure time from the pool, and it was hectic)

Well once she gets past morning she seems to love it. Today, I went to pick her up early and she wanted to stay! She became friends with the mean girl. When I picked her up today she was sleeping so soundly, which is an improvement she is showing me that she is comfortable in her surroundings, because for the first week she would not take a nap.

Should I let her stay the whole 7 hours or the whole 4 hours?

  1. i think it is good for kids to be in daycare ... i would do the 7 hours .. it gets them in a routine ...

my son goes mon - wed for 7 hours and he loves it ... then he is stuck at home with me for the rest of the week .. he looks forward to going to school .. as he calls it  and this helps them get into routine for actual school.

if i could afford it my son would go more.

  2. It sounds like your babe is adjusting nicely to daycare!  If she is truly enjoying it, let her stay if she wants to.  Daycare CAN be a great thing for kids.

I would question the peeing thing, though - at that age, it's important to take them to the bathroom reguarly, especially if they indicate they have to go.

  3. It's great that she is adjusting to her daycare schedule. I would definitely talk to the provider about the peeing incident to know exactly what happened and talk about how to prevent it happening again (with both the provider and your daughter). As far as whether you want her in for 4 or 7 hours, that's strictly up to you and how you want to raise her. IMO no child under 5 should spend more time away from his/her family than with them, and that's how we raise ours. Others would disagree.

  4. I would probally say the 7 hours.  Plus it sounds like she is really starting to like it.  She gets to make friends and play and learn stuff and share and it builds up there imune systems for king.  i really think daycare is a great idea plus it gives you a little break as well both my kids LOVE daycare they even want to go on the weekends.
