I'm trying to figure out what would be better and get the baby used to the new situation more easily. Is it better to send a 1-year-old 3 half-days in a row (Monday, Tuesday,Wednesday) or on alternate 3 half-days (Monday,Wednesday,Friday)?

  1. I was practically RAISED in daycare, Ive gone to about 7 throughout my childhood , They're not awful ... I learned alot about child-care (im now a nanny) ; social skills and i was always much more independant than all the kids i knew who did not spend as much time away from their parents.

Anyway, as a one year old your baby wont really care/know/be able to differentiate from going consecutive days as opposed to alternate days. children think in " day-by-day" terms meaning every-time they wake up its a new start ; they lack the concept of the continuity of time. so as far as whats best for the baby-it doesnt matter,  do whatever is more convient for you.

  2. okay, i know that this doesnt really answer your question...but it would be better for you to get your baby a sitter. when i was a little kid, i went to daycare and it was terrible. and i didn't go to just one, but 3 daycares in my entire life. it was awful

  3. From personal experience, I found that consecutive days was easier.  That way they can get used to it every day and not have days betgween where they can "forget" daycare and think they arent having to go back.  That said, the fact that its only for 3 days in a row makes it hard too because then theres 4 days between they go back again where you'll have to do the whole getting used to daycare thing again.

Can you do Monday to Friday?

I just started my daughter in daycare and found that shorter days but everyday of the week (minus weekends) worked the best and quickest.  Transitioning to daycare is hard in general...

    Good luck!

PS.  For the person who posted before me, daycare isnt always bad...but it does take some searching to find the right one.  Im sure she's a good mother and will find one thats right for her situation and baby.  There are plenty of babysitters who are horrible also.  Thats why my daughter is now going to daycare...tired of bad sitters/nanny's.....
