  1. i have been working at a daycare for 6 years now, and i have worked in rooms with cots and rooms with matts, and the matts are much easier to store, and clean. but the cots allow you to pull a crib sheet over them tightly for younger children. i would go with a mix of both.

  2. It would depend on the age of the children. Preschoolers should rest on cots; school age children can rest on mats.

  3. I use cots because the state I live in requires them. The bedding has to be off the floor. Check into that before you buy! Cots take up more space in storage and little kids can roll off them, so if your state requires cots, you'll need rails too.

  4. i would go with cots for different reasons.

1- cots are off the ground and easy to clean, all you have to do just spray them with bleach water.

2- cots last longer than the mats

3- its much more easy to put the sheets on the cots than the mats

  5. www.discountschoolsupply.com

I've used cots in the past but are presently using mats.  I am doing in-home child care and mats are definately a lot easier to clean (especially sickness) and store.  I use a mat for children 2 years and up...pack 'n' play for younger children.  I have had no problem with the younger ones on mats.  I purchased the sheets to go on them.

However, if you are in a center, they have this great cot "activity center" that you can purchase through Discount School.  It includes cots, carrier, magnetic board/peg board/mega block board, and flannel board that attaches on the sides of the cot and they have an activity table top to go on top of the cots.  That's making use of all space!

    Good luck!

  6. Cots allow for air circulation.Mats are cheaper and easier to store. Try Discount School supply and ECMD for good prices.

  7. In our school 12-21 months use mats because they can roll off the cots. 2- 3 1/2 use cots with the blankets that the parents provide.  then school age 4 to five use mats because they are easier to store, they do it themselves sometimes lol..best of luck to you!
