I am working towards my associate in Early Childhood Education and was wondering what kind of salary I should expect in that field. What are other Early Childhood teachers making? Please include your education level as I'm sure that makes a difference.

  1. if you want to make the larger salaries getting your Childs Center Permit is the way to go along with your Associates and working in either the Migrant program or Headstart. You can easily make upwards to $15 an hour, but if you choose to go the Preschool or daycare route or even afterschool chances are you will make no more than $9 an hour.

  2. it depend on how good yo are but you will never make than 15 an hour, I've been working as a preschool teacherfor 6 years. i have my associates degree, i have my cda, director credential ,and i went to every work shop you can think off and i make 12.50 .

  3. i work for a well known day care across the country, I'ma high school grad with 3 yrs of experience. I make only 8.50

  4. I make about $2500 a month providing child care in my home. But some of that has to be put right back into the daycare, like supplies and such, so I probably profit $2000 a month. I did the math, and I make $10 an hour.

  5. As a director for a large corporation I hire teachers with an associates degree in for about 9-9.50 an hour without experience, experience adds about .50 an hour.  This really differs state to state though.  Also if you are looking for higher pay Head Start usually pays well, I know that in our county the pay is significantly higher by as much as 3.00 an hour.  Hope this helps!  I would suggest working part time in a child care facility while you are going through school for the added experience and reference!

  6. The highest paid person with an associate in Early Childhood Ed in the Pre-K I work at makes 9.50 an hour.  But the cost of living here is really low too......the best way to figure out what you will make is the Bureau of Labor Stats.  It is done by area/occupation.  Good luck!
