They are a waste of time and money, in my opinion but I had been in the field approximately 10 years before I decided to become licensed in my home.  :-)  There are many "starter kits" that you can purchase off of the internet and I did purchase one but after reading it once...it wasn't much use for me.  They had "documents" that you could use...but every day care is different and what "forms" you use really differ from what is provided.  Any required forms are usually provided by the State.  So, to sum it up...unless you have no idea what is involved, it's not really beneficial.  I would suggest you find a mentor :-)  Find someone who has had success and use them as a sounding board.
