Days: Any ideas on why Trent wants to keep Max and Melanie apart?

He does not want Melanie to know how he abandoned Max as a young boy.  That is only part of the story.  I believe that something happened to Max's mother that only Trent knows and he is afraid that it will come out.

I think Trent is shady as h*ll and doesn't want to have his image tarnished as far as Melanie sees him. He's somehow married to Nicole (which has yet to be explained) and he also abandoned Max as a baby. We also still don't know what happened to Max's mother - perhaps Trent had something to do with her death? Maybe Melanie was the result of an affair that he had - or maybe Melanie & Max have the same mother too?

Max (with good reason) hates Trent and Trent knows that Max might tell Melanie what a complete *ss her father is and turn her against him. Whatever her deal is, he seems to think that she poops Haagen-Daz and it would kill him to have her hate him too.

I'm sure it will all come out (maybe in 6 months!) - we'll just have to wait and see!
