Days Hotel brings back the Hilly Way Chase for trainer, Henry de Bromhead

Seems like Willie Mullins was not the only trainer who enjoyed the treble over the weekend at Punchestown, trainer, Henry de Bromhead, was also close by on the same lines at Cork race course. The seven-year-old bay gelding, Days Hotel, did not disappoint the connections as he landed the first race after the break of 385 days. Sending him out after so long all of a sudden in a graded race was the risk that the trainer took and was paid back well.
He won the Grade 2 Hilly Way Chase.
Oscar’s bay gelding was not prominent at the beginning of the race, but did gain attention towards the concluding phases. Just as the favourite entry, Blazing Tempo, took flight over the third last fence, Days Hotel got into a keen pursuit and did not have to make much effort in order to over ride the leader in second.
After taking down Blazing Tempo, the Irish bay gelding had to take care of Realt Dubh, who had to compromise with success by six lengths.
Last that the seven-year-old out of, Call Catherine, won was on 20th November, 2011 in the Grade 2 Ladbrokes.com Bet In Running Craddockstown Novice Chase at Punchestown race course over two miles.
The winning jockey, Phillip Enright, excitedly commented:
"That is my biggest winner - I've won the Thyestes Chase twice and also won the Pierce Hurdle, but I'd never won a race bigger than a Grade Three before today. He was going as fast as he wanted to be early on, but loves heavy ground."
The five-year-old chestnut gelding, Too Scoops, got him the INH Stallion Owners European Breeders Fund Novice Hurdle (Listed Race) on 9th December, 2012 at Punchestown race course over two miles.
Riding with jockey, A. E. Lynch, Too Scoops defeated Rory O’Moore by 3 ½ lengths.
Then the five-year-old bay gelding, Starkie, came back with the Corkracecourse.ie Maiden Hurdle on 9th December, 2012 at Cork race course over two miles.
Under the experienced guidance of jockey, Bryan Cooper, he cornered Strategic Bid by just half-length.
Days Hotel struck a hat-trick with the back-to-back at Punchestown followed by the most recent success story at Cork.
Any plans as per his future races have not been made public yet but the fact that the under charge enjoys heavy ground should be kept in mind.
