I've been working in a supermarket for about a month now. Im only tempory until september but so far i've had 3 days off. The first was due to sickness. Then last week i changed some days and it was all agreed with the supervisor. I was meant to go back to work on the friday but when i got home on the thursday night i fell over and cut my forehead. I went to hospital on the friday then popped into work to say the doctors said not to go in. They complained about it but there was nothing i could really do. Anyway me and my mum had a bit of an argument this morning before i was meant to go to work and she really upset me and i stupidly didnt go into work. I really dont want to risk losing this job. i know of should of gone in but what can i say on saturday when my next shift is? As im tempory do you think they will sack me or just tell me when september comes they are willing to give me a perm contract? I dont know what to say to them on saturday why i wasnt in today. Should i say that i had to go to hospital about my head? like a last minute thing? Need some ideas!

  1. It doesn't really matter what you say now!  Even if you did have to go to the hospital, why could you not have rung them and told them this at the time?  So really, there's no point using that as an excuse.  You might as well just tell the truth, because there is nothing at all that you can say that will compensate for the fact that you didn't call in.  You will just have to be really apologetic.

If you were a permanent employee, you'd likely be given a formal warning for this.  Since you're a temp, they're within their rights to just sack you straight away.

  2. Don't lie, just profusely apologize.  They might sack you, but that's the lesson you learn for letting your personal life interfere with work.

  3. dont lie

  4. All you can do is tell the truth,Try not to have days of in the future,Go to work even if you are ill,That way they can see your not skiving and send you home.
