Daytrading account?

if i have $15,000 cash in my account can i daytrade?

i have a margin account so i have 30k in buying power

i know for a daytrading account I need 25k but does that 25k have to be all my cash or can it be split between me & my broker?

    If you want to be a day trader, you will need to have a margin account with $25,000 minimum equity at all times.

    No the $25,000 does not have to be in cash, but it must be equity.  

    Equity is market value less debit balance (or plus credit balance)

    Brokers don't "split" anything with anyone.  So if you need $25,000 it has to be yours

    Buying power is not equity, it's buying power.

    If you're going to day trade, you should know all the rules and regulations that you must follow

    $25,000 cash or cash equivalent in the acct, or no Day Trading.
