if i have a macro comos on the field, and my set dd survivor gets attacked, doesn't it get flipped face-up before getting removed so it will come back?

because if not, why would flip effects activate when they get attacked?

  1. Yes, it does get flipped face up for damage calculation. However damage calculation is after the battle is conducted.

Why it's effect doesn't work? Because the rules specify that D.D. Survivor must be face up on the field when it is selected as an attack target for it's effect to activate.

Flip effects activate because they are specifically FLIP EFFECT monsters. No matter how they are flipped, their effects activate, unless the card which flipped them says so.

Just remember to always summon D.D. Survivor from now on, unless it means your LP will be reduced to 0.
