Manchester City midfielder and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigel-de-Jong-c27882 has admitted that he wishes to stay at the Etihad Stadium and doesn’t plan on leaving the club any time soon.
The midfielder has been linked with a move out of the club, considering the fact that he has entered the last year of his contract with the team and hasn’t been offered a new extension as yet.
Despite this fact, De Jong feels that he has what it takes to stick around at the club and feels that he is going to see out his contract with the Manchester based team. "My contract runs for another year, so I'm in a pretty good position"
"I want to stay [at Manchester City]. I've been at the club for three years and I’m feeling really well. I have won the FA Cup and the league title, which are the biggest trophies in England."
The midfielder is one of the few players who has been around to see the club transform from a mid-table team, to the champions of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749.
He feels that what he has seen is going to spur him on to stick around longer and feels that from here on, the team can only improve.
"I saw the club change from complete mayhem at the training facilities into a real top club, and that's great to see," he added.
De Jong also revealed that he didn’t have a problem with warming the benches, since he feels that when it comes to playing in such a big squad, rotation is just a part of the game.
"It's part of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 that I occasionally warm the bench. We have a squad rotation system. I prefer to play all games, but it's all about the team.
At the moment, there have been no indications from the club, over their intention to keep the player around after his contract runs out or not.
However, considering how he almost seems to give it his all, every time he steps onto the pitch and the dedication that he has for the team, they might just reconsider his future over the coming months.
