De La Hoya vs Cotto?

Question

If Oscar De La Hoya were to fight Miguel Cotto who will win?

In my opinion this fight will be (for lack of a better word) AMAZING!!

Would you rather see this fight, than Mayweather-Cotto?(which will probably end up being a boring fight, since Mayweather won't trade punches with Cotto. It will be kind of like a Mayweather-De La Hoya. )

Some things people forget about Cotto. Judah gave Cotto a problem because he was half a boxer. Yes, he beat the h**l out of Judah but was rock by him more than twice in that fight. Paulie Malignaggi is half a boxer, fights with his head in the air, no power and almost lose trying to please the crowd. Cotto beat the h**l out of him but had some problems. Oscar is a boxer and sometimes has some stamina issues late rounds. He will keep the jab in Cotto face, like Mosley couldn't do. Oscar power is still there. If Cotto keeps up his no defense problem, he's going to have L in his record. The way you beat Cotto or brawer, is to stick, move and have good stamina. You have to hit him with some good flush, hard punches and tie him up or get out of there. Cotto stamina is not that good. Around the 9th against Mosley, he started running. He also threw combos but has a slite pause after throwing them and stand there open looking at you. Probley was because it was late in rounds. Look at the fight on youtube and you see what Im talking about. Styes do give each fighter problems. A lot of fighter keep thinking there power makes up for there defense and find out later other wise. Im going with Oscar. Mayweather will out class Cotto and take him to school. Cotto is not a push over. Judah and Mosley was the only good fighers people know were good. Them other guy's he fought no one new them and  had a good record because they fought nobody guy's. Besides Judah and Mosley. Who did the other guy's fight? Cotto fights are fun to watch. Mayweather fights are fun but not like Cotto's.

De La Hoya. Cotto is overrated. Not saying he isnt a great fighter but people are making him out to be much better than he is. I think Quintana will beat him in a rematch. That was a good fight till the liver shot that melted Quintana.

When De La Hoya has the confidance, he can be a dangerous opponent, but Cotto is strong and an excellent fighter. So i don't know who would win but that would be a good fight. And yes, Mayweather is a chicken.

Yikes I'm waiting for the bottle to get broken up against the bar - this kid Cotto (born in 1980) 31 by 25 ko...  He's young and quick, now if we could just feed him a little gunpowder and really make him crazy (and as an opinion), I think he might just wack the laces off of Mr. De La Hoya (whom I respect very much)...

I don't agree with some of the people that have answered this question.

Oscar in his prime, will have crushed Cotto easily.Now Cotto has a good chance of winning, but Oscar still has power and speed. It will be a great fight, with blood and excitement.

i'm going to go with De La Hoya with a TKO.

First off there isn't a chance in the world that DeLa Hoya would fight Cotto, Oscar would get steam rolled.  Cotto is peaking and DeLa Hoya is way past his prime.  Cotto would most likely beat both DeLa Hoya and Mayweather at the same time if all three of them were in the ring together.

I think that De La Hoya could still take Cotto to school, but I kno that Cotto likes to throw that left to the body a lot and If anybody remembers, that's wut B-Hop beat Oscar with. So Cotto might get that lucky punch on that same spot (the liver) then it's over for Oscar. It would be a good fight!

if they did fight, it would not be a zzzzzzzz fight like the mayweather/de la hoya... cotto, would win, but it could be an upset too... but if cotto did win, it would so totally lead up to cotto/mayweather... but mayweather is a boring fighter... after seeing pacquiao barely beating jmm in the best fight i've ever seen, mayweather's fights are like watching a blank wall... you wouldn't want to...

It would be  a great fight and there is a good chance it may happen towards the end of this year or early next year , i know oscar does want to fight him. Cotto would probably take this one considering he was pretty eventy matched with mosely and got a decision but anything is possible. I dont know why people say mayweather vs de la hoya was boring i didnt think  so , I mean was far from the most exciting fights i have seen but still would love to see oscar and floyd go at it again so would most boxing fans. I hope oscar gets to fight cotto if he does he will retire after win or lose and long as mayweather doesnt retire it would basicaly force him to fight cotto. Oscar maybe past his prime but hes far from washed up hes not THAT old, his only losses though he has quite a few is only to other great fighters. Cant really take nothing away from oscar , Cotto is great and fun to watch fight but he is not fully tested yet in the ring he beat mosely and barely could have went either way , other than that who has cotto really fought that is anybody? Also he doesnt have the greatest chin. I do wanna see him fight the best guys out there but im sure  a lot of them are afraid to fight him.
