De La Hoya vs Forbes reactions?

What did everyone think? I though it wasn't too bad, I mean it was on regular HBO so thats cool. I knew going in Oscar was going to win. I learned that Steve Forbes is a solid boxer. I was hoping for a ko or tko by Oscar, but once the sixth round hit, I had the feeling the match would go to twelve. Oscar looked good- he didn't look tense, pace himself, and did not tire. He was dishing out great combinations that would have put lesser fighters on the canvas. Forbes defended great. I also think he could of hurt Oscar if he threw more. The punches he landed rocked Oscar a couple of times, or is it just me? I am luke warm on the Mayweather rematch...I Oscar fought like he did against Forbes and keeps his jab going he can win. However, if Mayweather lets his hands go, he can hurt Oscar. Comments please!

  1. mayweather will kill him

  2. It sucked... Oscar beat up a kid who LOST on reality TV!!!  I hope Oscar feel good about hisself.  He can not KO that kid name Forbes.

I think Mayweather is 4 or 5 tiers above Forbes, and Old De La Hoya got nothin in his tank.

  3. I was impressed that de la hoya didnt let his guard down (to much) towards the end of the fight but no way will he beeat mayweather now. Hes just to old slow and fragile. It was a good fight though (judge 3 didnt give forbes a round(120-108))

  4. First of all to respond to chuckies bogus reply ..what the h**l do you think a tune up fight is he only fought him to try things out that he wants to do against floyd. After that being said DLH did fight a great fight and i hope he can fight like that against mayweather but either way the DLH Mayweather winner is going to be destroyed by miguel Cotto

  5. Don't get fooled buy this c**p, Forbes was brought in to make Oscar look good. Thats it, there was no guessing here he was a warm up fight to give people the impression that he is back. Back my a#s, he was left bumped & bruised buy a natural 130 pound fighter. The night of the fight Oscar was probably 20 pounds heavier then Forbes & he couldn't even hurt Forbes. Oscar needs to hang it up.

All he is trying to do is secure his promotional companies future. He said it himself he knows that it will have troubles once' he retires. Now you read that he sold 50% of his company to AEG? I think he knows it will be flushed down the toilet & is trying to get some money back.

Against Mayweather he may do well but it will only happen because Mayweather may be slipping as well. I don't want to see this fight.

  6. This fight was exactly what it was supposed to be, a tune up sparring session for Oscar. I think Oscar was a bit surprised that Forbes actually came to fight.

When you give a fighter with nothing a shot like Forbes got, expect the fighter to give the fight of his life.

I liked what I seen, Oscar looked a little sluggish and hittable, but its hard to say weather his defense was weak or he just didn't have to worry about Forbes power, probably a little of both.

In a fight like this you cant really give Oscar credit, and you cant base to much on the fight, Oscar was in against a limited opponent who had no real conceivable way to beat Oscar.  You just have to watch too see how Oscars Legs looked, his speed, you could tell as much from that fight as you could if you just went to the gym and watched Oscar sparring and practicing his punching.

People compared this fight to the Sturm fight, but in all honesty Sturm was an unbeaten, young BIG! jr middleweight and Oscar was out of shape.

Oscar could have showed up out of shape and still beat Forbes.

It looked to me like Oscar was trying to hard to get a knockout and look impressive, he was too impatient and it allowed Forbes to counter and make it the distance. If Oscar just played his normal game he could have knocked Forbes out.

  7. I Was Truly Amazed, Can You Tell?

  8. It was a stupid idea to fight stevey forbes i think...He may be solid, but he for sure is no Rocky.  Mayweather will once again own De La Hoya and prove once again he is the pound-for-pound champion of the world.

  9. oscar impressed me, he fought like he did 3 years ago, he threw combinations workin behind the jab , if he does that same technique he can possibly beat mayweather by decision, but the only thing im concerned about DLH is his defense i saw forbes rock DLH a few times , DLH has to get his defense workin
