The question is misleading.

Mayweather is not in his prime now, his prime was a few years ago when he broke Diego Corrales over his knee. Both he and DeLa Hoya graduated up to this weight.

If you put Delahoya in with the Mayweather of 2003-2004...Delahoya would be blindingly outclassed, out punched...frustrated...and perhaps knocked out.

It would seem alot like DLH versus Shane Mosely, but considerably more one sided. Remember Mayweather has lost some of the edge as he went up in weight...and definitly some speed.

At that weight, no one would catch him.

Mayweather was and still is the smarter fighter against de la hoya in his prime days de la hoya made many questionable decisions (against trinidad) and never did well against faster and more skilled boxers (mosley), Mayweather beat him because de la hoya was completely predictable,after the first few rounds he simply started countering his jabs and connecting punches while making de la hoya miss, it is probably going to happen again in their upcoming bout and it would be the same even against a prime de la hoya.

De La Hoya hands down, when they fought Hoya only lost because the whole time he was attacking Mayweather to give the crowd a show on the other hand Mayweather just played the points game and hence won the fight due to decision.
