De Rossi backs Enrique and demands fans support: Serie A news
A.S http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniele-De-Rossi-c10112, has urged the fans to back the under-fire manager, Luis Enrique.
The Giallorossi suffered their 6th defeat of the season as they lost 3-0 to Fiorentina over the weekend. The fans have started to become impatient and few of them protested against the tactician after the game and demanded his resignation.
De Rossi, whose own future at the Stadio Olimpico Rome is still uncertain, has urged the fans to remain patient and believes that it would take time for the new project to work. Enrique was appointed as the manager of the club under new philosophy before the start of the 2011/12 season but things have not gone as planned.
The influential midfielder admitted that finishing among the top three will be a tough task for the capital club so it is difficult to set any objective at this point. The 28-year-old admitted that the club also struggled when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luciano-c22574 Spalletti was appointed as the coach few years back but he eventually settled in well and got the club moving among the best.
“Arriving in the top three would be like a sporting miracle. I’m not going to lie. It is difficult to talk about objectives and where we could finish by the end of the season, because so many things have changed. Don’t forget Luciano Spalletti also brought something new to Roma and got the team playing great football.”
The Italian international is hoping for better results after the Christmas and believes that the club should continue with what they have planned. De Rossi added that results are not important for the time being as once the squad is built the results will come automatically.
“The thing that makes me optimistic is that with Spalletti we really got into gear after Christmas. This is why I say Luis Enrique needs time. The results aren’t what we wanted at this stage, but we are a new team and it does take time.”
Roma have dropped to the 8th spot in the league table and drift the league leaders, Juventus, by 12 points. They will face a stern test against the Turin giants in their next encounter.
