De Rossi stands by Luis Enrique despite a poor start to his Roma regime: Serie A news
A.S http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniele-De-Rossi-c10112, has offered his full support to under-fire manager, Luis Enrique.
Enrique has had a poor start to his Giallorossi career and saw his team getting knocked out of the UEFA Europa League preliminary round. Roma also lost 2-1 to Cagliari in their opening game of the 2011/12 Serie A season.
Enrique was appointed as the Roma head coach with the mission of laying down the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 philosophy at the club. However, early criticism and poor performances have hindered him to fulfil his ambitions thus far.
Several football pundits and former players have already called for the axing of the former Barcelona star but De Rossi believes that Enrique should be given time for the new project. The midfielder praised the tactician as an
innovative coach and believes that he helps the players a great deal. The Italian international believes that it will be very hard for Roma to win any trophies this season but the manager is laying a great foundation for many trophies to come in the future.
De Rossi said, “He’s an honest person and an innovative Coach, a young one who likes possession and offensive football. Luis Enrique has always behaved himself correctly with us. He tells you things to your face, I appreciate him
for that. It will be hard for Roma to win as soon as this season, but there has to be support for the project that is planned here for the years to come.”
The 28-year-old has urged his team-mates to regroup after a slow start and believes that an early exit from Europe could prove beneficial for his team to focus on domestic competitions.
“The start has not been easy, but we have to reverse the cycle. Our exit from the Europa League will mean that we’ll avoid some long midweek trips and this could actually be an advantage to us.”
De Rossi is still locked in contract negotiations with the club and has only one-year left on his current deal with Roma.
