AB de Villiers made a South African Test record score of 278 to put the Proteas firmly in control after two days of the second Test against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi.De Villiers struck 23 fours and six sixes in his unbeaten total to surpass the previous mark of 277 set by Test captain Graeme Smith against England in 2003. The Proteas declared at the end of the over in which De Villiers reached the record, on a score of 584 for nine, although they could only claim one wicket before bad light brought the players off.
