The Feyenoord defender has admitted that he is pleased to hear about European clubs taking interest in acquiring his services, while assuming that the Rotterdammers will hold talks with him soon over a contract extension.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stefan-de-Vrij-c33987, has expressed his delight over the transfer talks surrounding him.
The 20-year-old, who started his professional career at De Kuip Stadion in the 2009/10 season, has established himself as one of the most promising central defenders playing in the Dutch top flight.
His consistent and rock solid showings in the heart of the Rotterdammers’ defence have garnered him interest from several European clubs including the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809.
And the Dutchman, who has also made his debut for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 under the leadership of Louis van Gaal despite his tender age, has admitted that he is pleased to know about clubs taking interest in acquiring his services.
“I’ve read about the clubs [that are interested], yes. It is very nice to hear that others think you are doing well”, De Vrij was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.
The Dutch stopper has an ongoing contract at De Kuip Stadion that runs until the end of the 2013/14 season. Reports indicate that the Feyenoord management would be offering the youngster an extension to his ongoing contract to prolong his stay in Rotterdam.
And the talented centre-back has revealed that he is expecting the club to offer him a new deal in the coming weeks.
“I assume that Feyenoord will come to me”, De Vrij concluded.
If rumours are to be believed, AC Milan and Anzhi Makhachkala are taking keen interest in luring the 20-year-old away from De Kuip Stadion in the upcoming January transfer window, and would be tabling a bid in the region of seven million Euros to land his
signature.
However, it seems unlikely that Feyenoord will let go of their prized asset halfway through the season, as they aim to lift the Eredivisie title come the end of the ongoing 2012/13 campaign.
The Rotterdammers are currently sitting fourth on the league table, only three points behind the table-toppers, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven.
