De-clawing? tail docking? Ear cutting?

Question

A lot of people are against de-clawing of cats and it is illegal in some places. Is it any different than getting a dogs tail docked or ears cut? and why you think so? Best answer get 10 points.

I don't think it's any different at all!!  When it all come down to it, it's mutilation for our preference and convenience.  I would never do those horrible things to my pets and I frankly can't understand why anybody else would.

it is all very terrible....

the tail docking I can handle...a friend of mine had a big dog and he was a very happy dog...that poor tail was beaten, infected, and became dangerous and had to come off. would have saved the poor dog a lot of pain if that is done when little if you know it will be a BIG dog with a tree branch tail

I'm against altering of any animal for cosmetic or convenience purposes. One is just as bad as the other. These practices should be outlawed.  I hope some day they are.

Why would you cut something off your pet? They're made fine the way they are.

I shouldn't be answering this but what the heck.

First let me say that I'm very much anti-declaw.  I don't care how much your stupid couch cost - don't declaw your cat!  I don't care if it scratched the baby - find it a new home instead!

Ok, I think that's clear.

I am not passionate about dogs but I'm also anti-mutilation for them too.

However, I do think that tail docking and ear cutting are in one respect worse than declawing.  And that's because cutting off a tail and reshaping ears can only be for cosmetic reasons, and that's just saddddd.  

Note that I said in ONE respect.  I don't claim to know which procedure is the most painful for the animal, or which has the most gruesome side effects.  So don't hurt me, ok?
