DeMarcus Cousins calls Blake Griffin an Actor, gets fined $25,000 for criticizing officials – NBA Regular News
DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings accused Blake Griffin of faking fouls, and went as far as saying that the NBA referees favour Blake Griffin as he brings in fans to the games.
The whole issue started on Thursday night, when DeMarcus Cousins was fouled out in the Kings game against the Clippers. He was annoyed by his fifth foul, where he tried to steal the ball from Griffin while he held it in his hands.
Griffin grabbed his eye as if he had been hit, and the referee ruled the play a foul against Cousins, his fifth for the night. Cousins would later commit his 6th and be fouled out of the game, in a match where he only played 18 minutes and managed
8 points. Sacramento lost 85-93 to the Clippers.
After the match, Cousins stated that he had had no contact with Blake’s eye and that Blake was faking the foul.
“I guess the wind from my hand hit him in the eye, I guess he got fouled by the wind” said Cousins via the Sacramento Bee.
Cousins also went on to say that the NBA referees play favourites in the league and that Blake Griffin is a favourite of the NBA since he draws in crowds. Cousins was later fined $25,000 by the NBA for criticizing officials.
Blake Griffin has earned a reputation for himself in his short 3 year stint so far in the NBA. Players and fans alike are beginning to dislike him because of his attitude on the court. It is said that he talks a lot on the court and this irritates players.
Blake Griffin’s two dunks over Pau Gasol in the Clippers vs. Lakers game on Wednesday night has also been the source of much discussion in the NBA. Firstly, many people believe that both dunks were offensive fouls, particularly the 2nd one. However,
there were no calls made by the referee on both plays.
Basketball is an extremely physical game and sometimes players tend to get caught up in the heat of the moment. However, Pau Gasol is a talented and respected athlete in the NBA community. And may one add, much more accomplished than Blake Griffin. For Blake
to mock him like that was unnecessary and uncalled for.
There have been and still are many aggressive players in the NBA. Big men like Ben Wallace, Metta World Peace and even guards such as Allen Iverson were known throughout the league for their bad-boy personality. However, never were they involved in such
a predicament.
The Sacramento Kings play against the Clippers again tonight at Los Angeles. It will be interesting to see how DeMarcus Cousins and Blake Griffin play and how they interact with each other on the court.
