DeMarcus Cousins flexes muscles as Sacramento Kings tyrannize Charlotte Bobcats 114-88: NBA Recap
On Sunday night at the Time Warner Cable Arena, Charlotte, NC, the visiting Sacramento Kings gave their hosts, Charlotte Bobcats a 26 point drubbing, 114-88.
This was Charlotte`s 20th consecutive loss as they fell to an even worse record of 7-56. At the current rate, the Bobcats look all set to break the mark of worst losing percentage which was set by the Philadelphia 76ers
in the 1972-73 season. However, this can be prevented if the Bobcats are able to win once in their remaining three games of the season.
DeMarcus Cousins notched up his 35th double-double of the season as he finished the game with 29 points and 10 rebounds. Jason Thompson accompanied Cousins in the double-double department with 14 points and 11 rebounds
on the night.
Tyreke Evans had an extremely good night as he shot the ball 10 of 11 from the field, finishing the game with 22 points. He also contributed 3 assists and snatched 2 steals in the game. Isaiah Thomas contributed 10 points in the
game. Jimmer Fredette came off the bench to score 11 points.
Three of Bobcats starters, Kemba Walker, Byron Mullens and Derrick Brown posted 13 points individually. Gerald Henderson had a poor shooting night and managed to score only 9 points in the game while Tyrus Thomas came off the bench
to record 10 points.
Kings had a dominating night from inside the key as they scored 78 points as compared to 54 by the Bobcats. Sacramento also made a meal of Charlotte in transition, rounding off the game with 38 fast break points.
Sacramento looked to assert their authority in this one quickly as they raced to a 19-6 lead. They continued their onslaught and were ahead by 30-15 with 57.6 seconds remaining in the first quarter. By the end of the opening period,
the score was 19-31 in King`s favour.
A similar script was followed in the second quarter as King`s advantage never really got below double digits. By the end of the first half, Sacramento were leading by 15 points. Bobcats started the second half well and were able
to get the advantage down to 11. However, Sacramento responded back with a 6-0 run to make it a 17 point game, 67-50. Charlotte did not offer much resistance for the remainder of the third and by the time three quarters of game time had been played, the score
was 87-67 in Sacramento`s favour.
Sacramento continued their dominance in the final quarter as they started the period on an 11-0 run. This run helped the Kings in extended their advantage to 31 points, 98-67. The onslaught continued and the Kings got their biggest
lead of 35 at the 3:01 mark in the fourth, 114-79.
The Bobcats were able to pick up the slack as they closed the game out on a 9-2 run. However the ample advantage the King`s had was insurmountable as they took this one by a margin of 26 points.
