DeSean Jackson suffers severe concussion
Philadelphia Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson has suffered a severe concussion alongside Atlanta Falcons defensive back Dunta Robinson, who injured his head after their bone-chilling collision during the Eagles' 31-17 win over the Falcons on Sunday, October
17.
Robinson, who led with his head on the tackle, was penalized on the play that left the two players laying flat on the turf for several minutes before each were helped off.
Neither head coach could speculate on how long the injuries would sideline their players.
"He seems to be fine," Falcons coach Mike Smith said of Robinson. "It was a very violent collision. I saw him and knew he couldn't return, and that's all I really know."
Andy Reid, head coach of the Eagles, could not say the same of Jackson, but Jay Glazer of the NFL Network and Fox Sports has reported that Jackson has suffered a severe concussion and memory loss.
"Take it seriously, because it is serious," said Kevin Kolb, who has already suffered a concussion of his own this season. "I just felt so bad. I'm part of the play, and I never saw the guy.
"DeSean is a tough guy, and he'll be out there as soon as he can. We got to take this concussion situation serious."
At the time of the injury, Jackson had led the way, scoring two touchdowns as the Eagles led 14-0.
The Philadelphia Eagles' second receiver Jeremy Maclin stepped it up the rest of the way, helping his team to victory.
"Anytime you lose any guy in your offense, especially somebody like that, everybody has to step up and have a good game...we have playmakers all around our offense. Today was just a day when I got a lot of balls. We always look for ways to give ourselves
an advantage over our opponent."
Last year, Jackson was sidelined for one game with a concussion. Early speculation is that this one could keep him out a while longer.
