Question:

Dead Creek NEED Help! Enviornment Problem?

Yesterday while walking by the creek close to my house, i saw that all of the crayfish and earthworms were dead. I counted at least 28 just right there, and the earth worms are all white and littler the substrate. I know crayfish indicate the health of a creek and can be used for biomonitoring. There is a swim club about 30 yards up, and they were fixing the pool or something, so possibly their chlorine water leaked into to the creek? I need help on what to do, i'll take some pics and collect some water samples, as well as contact the State Representative and/or the local EPA. Any suggestions on what else i could do/ ask for?

  1. defenatly the crime of pplz! u should go to ur local police station and report this, animals make this world go round! If u report this, they will sew them pplz and the water might be cleared of chlorhine...

  2. You are on the right track by doing as you say. You need to report it to the local water & wastewater authority also. They are responsible to keep this safe in their jurisdictions as well. There are many other chemicals used in pools to condition the water that are toxic to auquatic life.

They are in deep wappers if the feds get involved. People go to prison for such crimes, even if it was done by mistake. It is a crime also to black mail some one with a pay out for staying quiet, so don`t go that route if you can help it. Good luck!
