Dead Island or F1 2011? Which game topped the PlayStation 3 sales charts?
The previous week saw the release of yet another Codemasters racing title, F1 2011. With a habit of making some of the best racing experiences on consoles and PCs, with the likes of the DiRT series, especially DiRT 3, it will be interesting to see how its
latest title got on in United Kingdom’s PlayStation 3 charts.
The word ‘interesting’ is used because as fun as driving around in excess of 250 kilometres-an-hour is, it would be tough to beat a zombie apocalypse on an island paradise (Dead Island).
Much like its Xbox 360 counterpart, L.A. Noire continues to enchant gamers with its facial motion capture technology as it manages to settle in to the number 10 spot.
With a thirst for blood and on a quest for vengeance, Kratos is managing to sell a fair share of copies of his recently released God of War Collections, as Volume 2 comes in at number nine.
Proving that anything with zombies in it is sure to sell more than a few hundred-thousand copies is Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops. One has to admire how a game which was released nearly a year ago is still selling enough to stay in a respectable position
on the sales charts.
The Rugby World Cup 2011 is still earning a fair amount for its publisher, 505 Games, as it rides the wave of its real life counterpart at number seven and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, continues its steady slide down the charts as it manages to hold on,
for the time being at least, to the number six position.
Kicking things off in the top 5 is Square Enix’s rebirth of cult-classic franchise, Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The game that allows players to choose whether they want to play through the game with stealth or with guns blazing is something that gamers in
UK are appreciating.
Driver: San Francisco is the first Driver title to be released on next generation consoles and gamers seem to be lapping it up as it finishes at number four.
The conclusion to a trilogy which began as a launch day title for PlayStation 3, Resistance 3 lives up to the number after its title and finishes in third spot.
Coming as a bit of surprise is Deep Silver’s Dead Island (2nd), which makes us wonder if there could be something better than taking down hordes of zombies on a holiday beach resort.
The answer, it seems, is Formula 1. Codemasters seem to have done it again as F1 2011 races its way straight to the top of PlayStation 3 charts in its opening week.
