Dead Rising 2: Single Player Campaign review Plot & Gameplay – PlayStation 3,Xbox 360, PC – Part 1
Dead Rising 2 is the follow up to Capcom’s impressive Xbox 360 exclusive title, Dead Rising. The game follows the same unique formula the original title did, but with a vast array of enhancements and tweaks that take the game forward.
Plot
The game revolves around the protagonist, a former motocross champion, Chuck Greene as he goes around the zombie infested Fortune City, looking to clear his name and keep his daughter Katie from turning into one of the undead.
Chuck was present at the Las Vegas outbreak that took place between the events of the Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2, during which his wife was turned into a zombie and his daughter was bitten by a zombie herself. The only thing that can keep her from turning
into one of the undead is a drug called Zombrex.
In order to get the Zombrex Chuck takes part in a reality show known as Terror is Reality (TIR) and spends his winnings on the drug for his daughter.
Chuck is framed for the latest zombie outbreak in Fortune City and spends the game attempting to clear his name, while at the same time looking for Zombrex which he must administer to Katie every 24 hours.
There are plenty of twists along the way as players will encounter a number of allies and go toe-to-toe with a number of foes.
The game has a total of 9 different endings which players reach based on their actions within the game which again, is similar to the original.
To sum things up without giving too much away the plot in Dead Rising 2 may is intriguing and has players constantly wanting to know what happens next.
Gameplay
The gameplay in Dead Rising 2 is unique to the world of video games. The story basically takes place and is divided into
chapters.
Each chapter has a certain start and finish time, which requires players to be in a certain place for the story to continue. Failure to do so does not end the game, as players can continue going around the vast Fortune City causing all sorts of havoc, however,
they will not be able to continue the story and clear Chucks name.
There is an in-game clock that players can bring up by pressing ‘left’ on the D-pad and just like the real thing the time keeps ticking no matter what is going on in the game.
Players have to be very careful how they spend their time as they will often have to choose between saving survivors, defeating psychopaths, running errands or just generally causing mayhem around the malls and casinos of Fortune City.
The most important thing however, is that Katie will need a shot of Zombrex ever 24 hours between 7:00am and 8:am. This requires players to be in the Safehouse with a Zombrex ‘item’.
It adds a nice element to the game as there is a constant feeling of being in a race against time and adds to the tension.
The game takes place over a 72 hour period upon the completion of which an extra 24 hour mode is unlocked known as
Overtime mode which continues the story.
