Dead Rising 3 to swap casinos for sunny California? – Rumour
Reports have emerged on the internet that seem to indicate that the next game in Capcom’s zombie infested series, Dead Rising, will take place in California.
According to the report, the series will move on from the casinos of Fortune City for the sunny city of California. It falls in line with the developer’s pattern of expanding the setting of the game with each instalment.
The original Dead Rising restricted gamers to a mall in Willamette, while the second game expanded on that putting them in Fortune City, which was based on Las Vegas’ The Strip. Hotels, Casinos and an arena were the main features that made up the landscape.
Now it would seem that the developers are expanding on that as well with what can only be deemed as a more ambitious setting such as a major city. Of course, we can safely say that the locale in the game will not be called California but rather something
else.
Apart from the setting on the game a number of other fairly significant details made their way onto the World Wide Web as well. Apparently, neither Frank West nor Chuck Greene, the protagonists from the first and second games, will be taking on the role
as hero in this story.
Instead an auto mechanic who goes by the name, Rick will be given to players to control as he looks to survive the latest zombie outbreak.
At the same time, the premise will be similar to that of the second game, with the government having declared a quarantine of the city and the few survivors remaining will be looking to escape in what is set to be, the now trademark race against time.
Other details also pointed out that despite having their main man killed at the end of the second game, the pharmaceutical company, Phenotrans, will be back to reprise their role as the evil capitalist organisation.
The classic mix of helping and rescuing survivors as well as battling psychopaths is also set to return with one report claiming to have information on one of the latter.
Dubbed “Roller Hog” one of the psychopaths is set to be a biker with a steam roller attached to the front of his bike. That bit alone should be able to convince an overwhelming majority of Dead Rising fans that the reports may very well have some truth to
them.
However, it is still early days and despite the fact that some of the reports seem legit and are in line with the series is known for it is best to take these reports with a pinch of salt.
More on this story as it develops...
