EA has confirmed the existence of Dead Space 3 during a recent investors call, while reports have emerged that the game will change things around and introduce cooperative gameplay.
Easily one of the scariest games out there at the moment, the Dead Space series has garnered quite a reputation for itself since the first game went on to become the surprise hit that it.
Dead Space 3, however, was perhaps the worst kept secret by EA over the past year or so. Leaked by various sources – including an Israeli television channel and an online retailer – everyone knew the game was in development despite EA remaining tight-lipped
on the matter.
EA did break their pointless silence during a recent investors call when they mention Dead Space as one of many games that the studio would be and is currently working on. The publisher stated: “At the foundation is another year of blockbuster brands: Madden
NFL, FIFA, Sim City, Medal of Honor, Dead Space and Need for Speed as well as mobile hits like The Simpsons Tapped Out, and Bejewelled.”
EA went on to state: “There’s no further information today but watch for several big product announcements from EA at E3 in June.”
At the same time, an anonymous source claims to have the inside scoop on what gamers can expect in Isaac Clarke’s latest horrifying adventure.
Apparently the game will feature co-op gameplay, with the story itself changing to cater to the introduction of the second player. Certain cut scenes and hallucinations will not be present in the co-op mode; however there will be added puzzles if the player
chooses to bring a buddy along for the ride.
The weapons and how players upgrade them will also be reworked and updated. No specifics were given but one can expect the weapons in the game to have different alternate and primary fire modes.
Another feature is that Isaac will also be able to crouch as well, which could prove to be a potential game changer in terms of how it will affect gameplay. At the same time players will now also be able to rotate items that are being held using Telekinesis.
At this point the features should be taken with a bit of salt but one can expect confirmation on how much of the ‘leak’ is true, come E3 in June.
