I called my complex 2 weeks ago to fix a problem of animals in my walls/ceiling and fireplace. They said "animals in your walls?...okay...we'll do something.." like I was crazy. Then 2 weeks after, a animal dies in the fireplace and now my living room/dining/kitchen REEKS of rotten animal. It makes my stomach sick with the smell. If they wont do anything then what can I do? The lease doesn't say anything about dead animals lol..Please serious answers only. [btw, I called once it started rotting and they're response was "aww..poor animal died..." I said "forget the animal! I love animals but not when they die and rot in my house!!" (they also said they'd have someone out the same day and pest control but they never came!!]

  1. lime powder is what they put dead animals to brake it down, maybe that  ?

  2. Call your city's building inspection or health department and report the problem as well as the lack of response by your landlord.  Check your city's landlord tenant rules to see if you can with hold rent until the problem is solved, you do need to notify the leasing agent/landlord/property owner in writing.

  3. In a few days, the flies will come and the smell will go away. it is disgusting i know, but if you think it smells bad, just imagine what it will smell like when you start busting holes in the walls to find it...i know it sounds bad, but it really will stop in a few days....good luck
