  1. They just die and are more then likely eaten by other animals. Don't forget most are small and not very noticeable.

  2. Usually in the woods. You don't see dead birds because you're not often go to  the woods or their actual natural habitats. Don't know why birds come to town, but there's nothing much for them anyway; like food sources- - plenty more in the woods.

I play golf and in my golf course there are plenty of birds. Many of them got killed by other bigger birds and died. I've seen many just dropped from the sky. Some of the birds got attacked mid-air by larger birds. They sometimes kill just because other birds are in their territory. I would see birds also died on the trees where they probably slept the night.

Other reason you don't see them die because usually birds live very long, longer than human. Some birds like crows live longer than a 100 years.

  3. They are quickly eaten by other animals, birds(scavengers,  carrion eaters), or insects.  Nature has a great way of recycling itself.

  4. Dead birds are easy to catch.  This reality allows the resource to be exploited by lots of natural recycling agents.  While the lists of individual agents varies across the world, their high levels of efficiency are much the same in most places.  In Western Europe, for example, should you be a small vertebrate that's just been killed by a well fed but playful cat, starvation, illness or whatever, then your remains may be buried by clearer-upperers known as Sexton beetles (aka Undertaker beetles).  Your remains would be perfect for burying as food for their soon to be born offspring.  Should your body survive the scavengers of day, you'd still have a fine chance of being snaffled by a fox or all.

An army of scavengers is only too pleased to clear the corpses away.  It's rather like leaving a ten pound note on the pavement.  You shouldn't be that surprise if, within a couple of hours, it's mysteriously disappeared.  Ten pound notes are worth a tenner and a corpse is rich in nutritional value.

  5. something else usually eats them
