uhh, recently my mom's friend and her family went to vacation to asia and we had to take care of their pets. a chinchilla and a bunny. well! the chinchilla died today x.o and were not sure why. it wasnt that hot today, but we suspect that my sister fed it watermelon. could it be that it died from shock or something? cuz it came to my house before. and it stayed in the backyard. and its was stationed in the backyard again. also, chinchillas are expensive and stuff so how should my family tell my mom's friend and her kids about the dead pet?

  1. Maybe just say (only to the mom)" I am really sorry, your chinchilla has passed away. We wanted to have you tell your kids because it would be easier... I am so sorry, we really don't know what happened. So please forgive us."

Hope this works Good Luck :o)

  2. yer just pay them back and say sorry

  3. You kept the chinchilla outside?? It probably died from heatstroke if that is the case. Chinnies are very sensitive to heat, they require a very cool place to live. They cannot sweat, their fur is too dense to allow them to cool themselves off.

And while you do owe the owners a new chinchilla, it will never be the same because you were negligent in taking care of the one they loved. Honestly.

  4. Oops.  I am sorry.  Your mom's friend is going to be pissed.  I would let her enjoy the vacation and tell her when she gets back.  You should have only feed it its pellets, timothy hay, and water.  Chinchillas can't have anything sweet and watermelon is very sweet.  No rodent should have watermelon but Chinchillas can't have sugar because their body can't process it.  I give my Chin two raisins a day as a treat but that is it.  Chinchillas live 10-15 years if they are properly cared for.  Even though they are expensive I would offer to get her a new one.  Good luck.  I hope she isn't too mad.  Also, the Chinchilla shouldn't have been in the yard.  I keep mine in the basement right now because it is the coolest room in our house.  Chinchillas can't take the heat at all.

  5. It died while in your care, you will have to replace the pet. Tell your mom's friend when they get back what happened, and then offer to pay them any amount of money to cover the loss of the chinchilla, and offer to buy them a new one. They will probably be very sad, and probably mad at you.

  6. well that sucks i would get mad and make you buy me a new baby chinchillas :D
