Question:

**Deaf child, need surgery. please help?

My nephew is about 3 years old and he was recently found out to be def.. he lives in another county, Armenia. and if we have to we will bring him over here just to get him SOME ability to listen so he can than use an aid.

please tell me of any easiest, or most efficient procedure we can use to get him his hearing back.

  1. You need to see an Audiologist to begin with to find out why he his deaf.

    A cochlear implant for example will only work if the damage to his hearing is in that area.

    My deafness in from a damaged auditory nerve, between the cochlear & brain therefore an implant won't work because I require amplification, not a new cochlear.

    Other possible problems could be glue ear, in which they'd put in gromits to drain the middle ear. Or it could be the little bones are fused or missing.


  2. He would have to be seen by a doctor in order to determine the surgical proceedure to use to get his hearing back IF they can at all.
