i woke up this morning and felt like one of my ears has some water in (like sometimes when you get out of the bath or shower) so i presumed it must be a build up of wax from sleeping on that side, i went to the bath room to use a cotton wool bud thing and loads of wax started to come out so i carried on abit but the feeling didnt start to go away, now it hurts when i put them in my ear and i the feeling of water is still there and i cant hear very well what do i do?

  1. You need to go to the GP/Nurse to get them to look in your ear. You may have impacted some wax in there and need some ear drops.

Good advice for anyone is NEVER stick anything smaller than your elbow in your ear - My Nan!

  2. Olive oil disolves the wax... But i would see a doctor first!

  3. I know your going to be worried about what the doctor will do, however having had this problem myself trust me go to the doctor. I left mine to late and now from time to time it flares up again and i dont have 100% hearing in my ear all the time. Trust me go to the doctor they will just check your ear, give you something for the pain and then something to put in your ear a drop that will chanel the water out for you. Once the water is out you'll start to feel better. DONT PUT cotton buds back in your ear it will just hurt it even more, and wax is there to protect your ear from further infection.

  4. Go to your doctors you may need your ear syringing.

  5. it would seem that what ever was causing the problem you have made worse by putting cottonwool buds in there, you have pushed the build up of wax ( which i presume it is ) against your ear drum this is causing the deafness and a pain. go to the pharmacy and they will be able to give you ear drops to use which will release it naturally. and please dont push things into your ears, didnt anyone ever tell you that

  6. You have simply pushed wax further towars your eardrum and it is nothing to worry about i would advise seeing a doctor at an ear, nose and throat department before you try any treatments your self, dont listen to anybody who says put certain oils in your ear as it can sometimes make this worse , also do not use products like Audiclean as they also do not work, seeing a doctor would lead to ear syringing* or ear drops, Ps you should never put cotton buds in your ears as they are not designed for that and can be very dangerous with prolonged use

  7. Seek medical attention.

  8. You may not even need a doctor, you have compressed the ear wax an pushed it further down by the sounds of it. Buy some otex ear drops and use it for a few weeks an see if that helps

  9. You were probably too enthusiastic with the digging out of your earwax from your ear, and came close to damaging the inner parts of your ear, so the body secreted more earwax to protect it. It's a very common mistake, and happens when rubbing your eye as well. All you need to do is rest it for the remainder of the day, so don't stick any more cotton buds in your ear, go to sleep, and in the morning if it is the same or worse you should consider seeing your local General Practitioner. (Doctor).

He/She will tell you almost probably the same thing, and that it will take a few more days to get better, and for the water-in-ear feeling to go away. I know, the feeling can be frustrating, all that you can do is basically try your best not to think about it, live your life the way you always do.

Maybe try not doing things that will make you feel it even more and think of it even more, like being on the phone, or listening to your iPod/mp3.

  10. You have probably damaged the eardrum in some way, sounds like a tear to me, i would go to the Dr or your local A&E. Keep the affected ear dry and it should heal up in around a week. Oh yeah..........Dont do it AGAIN !!!
