Someone is selling a 2002 Dodge Stratus with 120,000 miles on it for $1000. They say it runs but theres a noise in the motor and it may need a new one soon. Will this be expensive, is purchasing this car worth it? I am in desperate need of a car but I dont want to waste any money, I have no clue about the cost of motors or replacoing them and the labor. Help me out please, thanks!

  1. yeah i agree with the other guy, save your 1k and go to a police auction or find another car. to replace an engine would cost 4 times what your paying for the car

  2. Save your 1000 bucks. Check into your local police auctions. Many of these car are impounded and their owners are jailed. There are many good cars sold under $1000. Good luck.

  3. Yes, fixing the engine (if you need to) will be expensive and not worth it. Dodges over 100,000 miles usually have more problems and breaks down more.

You should look for something else.

  4. A Stratus is a horrible choice to begin with, and having to come up with the cash for a new engine for one would tell me "no deal".
