  1. Welcome to high school! First, take a deep breath and relax. Every freshman in the entire country is just as nervous as you are. Since you don't mention specific things you are worried about I'll try to discuss as many common fears as I can think of, hopefully you'll find it helpful. I warn you this could get a bit long, I apologize in advance.

If you're worried about getting lost you can always visit the school before the first day and take a walk around and find your classes and your locker. Even if you do get lost, you won't be alone, just about everyone does. There are usually teachers in the halls for the first week to help you find your way, feel free to ask one of them or any other student. Your school may also have an orientation program, if it does you'll get something in the mail about it. At orientation you'll get a tour of the school and advice from upperclassmen.

Do not be afraid of upperclassmen. Upperclassmen will not shove you into a locker, trashcan, toilet, or other undesirable place. In fact, if you get involved, I can guarantee that you will have some upperclassmen friends by the end of the year. We get a bad rap in the movies, but we really aren't mean to the freshmen, we have better things to do than bother you guys :).

The classes aren't too bad. They vary by teacher, but I am sure you will do fine. The first week is pretty laid back and you'll probably just review. Just do your homework and hand in assignments on time and you'll do fine. Not doing homework or handing in work late will affect your grades. Also try and participate in class. Class participation does count regardless of if your answer is right or wrong. How much participation counts towards your overall grades varies by teacher, but it can be an easy way to gain or lose points.

Never give in to peer pressure and do something you aren't comfortable with to try and fit in, it will backfire anyway. Don't change yourself for anyone else.

Most importantly get involved! Join a team or a club, or both! Being involved allows you to meet a lot of people that share the same interests as you and make a lot of great friends. Being involved is, in my opinion, the best thing you can do to enjoy your high school years.

Well I think thats about it. I tried to let you know about a bit of everything, but if I missed something that you are still worried about feel free to send me an e-mail through my profile. High school is what you make of it. Your 4 years go by so much faster than you think, make the most of them. Best of luck!

  2. Freshman?

First of all, try and make some upperclassmen friends. When I was a freshman, I just had to be cool with everyone. If you treat them with respect, the more they'll be cool with you.

Second, don't EVER try to fit into a clique. Just be yourself and you'll fit in just fine with other people.

If upperclassmen bully you, then just disregard it and remember not to do that to the lowerclassmen when you're a sophomore/junior/senior. : )

Third, high school is noticeably harder than middle school. Academics are going to be more challenging and you'll most likely get homework every day. You'll be fine just as long as you keep up with your assignments and do all your homework. There are some teachers that DO NOT take late work and most only give partial credit. When your grades plunge, it's so hard to bring them back up so keep up with your homework.

Keep your emotions in check and your friends from middle school won't always be your friends in high school. You'll break some and make some. It's going to hurt but it's going to happen sooner or later. You have to be picky with people when it comes to friends. Your friends have an influence on WHO YOU ARE so pick the right people.

And if you can, make it to football games with friends. It'll help keep up your spirit and you'll feel much better with the atmosphere. Disregard that if you don't like the big crowds.

High school is the best four years of your life and I promise you you'll be fine if you be yourself.

  3. don't worry all of the other freshman are gonna be scared too!! after a few weeks you'll get used to it!

    Good Luck!

  4. Its never as bad as you think.  I was so nervous when I started but after the first week I was like it aint that bad!  People used to always say to me that the best times of your life are your school years and I thought what a load of rubbish but looking back now its totally true!  Join clubs, make new friends.  You'll be fine.

  5. High School is fun dude. I had so much fun it was funny! LOL.

  6. just be yourself and dont try to impress everybody.  These will be the best years of your life.  It will open many new doors for you.
