I know someone who is intelligent and they purposely ask questions that they know most people don't know the answers to. Then they will show off their knowledge and make others feel inferior. How do you deal with someone like this?

  1. ignore them. they only do it for attention.

  2. if it is a friend tell them quietly in a private place that it isnt working for them that people aren't likeing this social approach - If its an acquaintance and you aren't bothered try humourous put downs - others who have been stung in the past will be glad to laugh and avoid yet another ritual humiliation - Outing bullies of any description is better than carrying on accepting abuse. If you can do it in a way in which they learn it is better for all concerned.

  3. THEY JUST TRY TO FIT IN BY STANDING OUT

BECAUE THEY ARE SMART AND ABNORMAL THEY JUST TRY MAKING CONVERSATION!!!

  4. people like this are actually insecure.  if they were truly secure in themselves, they wouldn't have a need to show off their intellect and would be more fun.  my advice is to walk away from them when they start doing this.  you have no obligation to listen to someone you find boring or rude.

  5. You could ignore this person or ask this person a question you're sure they won't know.  Maybe the intellect of another will put him/her in their place.  Even the most brilliant people in the world don't know everything.

  6. I always respond with "you know what?.... I didn't know the answer to that but then I've never pretended to know the answer to everything because life then would be soooo dull and I'd never have the opportunity to learn something new.... don't you find that to be true?"
