  2. I've had it for years now.  Foods have nothing to do with Crohn's.  The best thing is medication - it pretty much stopped the diarrhea for me, and eventually put me in remission altogether.  (There is no cure.)

The thing a lot of people don't realize about Crohn's is that it causes things like muscle aches and fatigue, too.  That was a bigger problem for me.  The only other huge concern is that Crohn's carries a much higher risk of colon cancer.  Your friend will need to have regular colonoscopies.

  3. Aloeride helps relieve the symptoms of crohn's check out the link below

  4. I agree, very sweet that you want to help your friend and find ways to help make your friend feel better.

I've had Crohn's for 11 years now, since I was 15. Food may not have anything to do with actually getting Crohn's but it has a lot to do with keeping well. I'm currently going through a very bad flare-up and have been put on a Low Residue Diet. By being sensible with what you eat, you can help yourself stay well or limit the affects that Crohn's is having.

For example, while really sick and during a flare-up, foods that are easily digestible are the best to eat. In my low residue diet I'm able to eat white breads, crumpets, pastas, spaghetti, potato ... basically anything that can be digested easy and doesn't make the stomach work too hard. Stay away from nuts and spicy food, these are a big no no. Everyone is different though so it's all a matter of trial and error. I've spent 11 years of trial and error with food and pretty much have it down pat what I can and can't eat.

Also, instead of eating three big meals a day, try eating smaller meals more often. Rather than bombarding your stomach with a huge meal and making it work overtime, switch to smaller meals, or just graze throughout the day.

There are a lot of medications on the market that can help crohn's sufferers, a gastroenterologist will be able to help. Stress and emotions also play a huge part in keeping well, so make sure that your work friend stays happy and calm ..... it can be very hard though I know, but staying stress-free can do wonders.

The pain in the stomach can be a lot to deal with too, so invest in a good 'ol hot water bottle ... my hot water bottle is my saviour!! By hugging a hot water bottle and pressing it up against the pain spot in the stomach it can work wonders.

I could go on and on and on HAHA but I'll finish here for now, happy to be contacted via email for a chat or if more info is needed :)
