Dealing with nightmare neighbors, help!?

Question

We are stuck living in this house for another four years.

The people next door to us love to make life hard.

The cops dont do much and we believe they are on very good terms with them.

I asked one cop what to do about them and he told me to get proof but when I tried to video tape them in action we had to go to court for harassment.

The judge refused to allow a witness of ours talk but took one of the neighbors kids up even though she told him she wasnt there.

Just a few hours ago the spent half the day setting off small fireworks even threw one or two at our window.

The wife loves to try and cow us and throw insults, right now one of them is out front revving the car engine.

Any advise is wanted im pretty tired of eating crow and being forced to stay inside all the time.

When you say you had to go to court for harassment do you mean you were on trial? If so that is really messed up. I really dont know what I would do in a situation like that, my best advice would be maybe you should just ignore them, if they are not getting any attention from you maybe their obnoxious behavior will subside. good luck

then go and file a case on them with the other neighbor to be your witness

You should still try fo film them with your camera. Don't make it obvious (don't make them aware that you are filming them or that you even have a camera). Have it on 24 hrs. Sooner or later you will be able to take good footage of them doing things that they should not be doing. Once you have good footage of them take it to the cops/or go to  court again.

I hate to have to say this, but you're just going to have to ignore them.  Either you offended them in some way, they are total bullies, or they got upset at something that no normal person would have even noticed.

Just ignore them and keep a log of what they do.  You may have to keep your windows closed and play the radio to drown them out.

If they throw insults, ignore it or say something like, yes, you are so right or some joke.  Probably better to ignore them.  They are having fun.  Any response you make just gives them a kick.

Having horrible neighbors is one of the true nightmares.  I hope you can last the 4 years.  Anything you do to retaliate will just turn on you and bite your ***.

I'd file a complaint with the DA.  Tell them local police isn't helping at all.  Make sure you get the name of officer/officers who come to your house and also right the date and time they come for future reference.  If they are that unruly they are probably not taking proper care of their children.  Write or call the social services for child neglect.

Whatever they are doing, do the same back.  You will annoy them enough where they will let down on the stupidity.

I'm afraid I can't suggest anything since I live in a very different place (Malta, MT) but I can feel your pain. We used to have lovely neighbours up until 6 months ago. Both parents and 3 kids who scream and thump and hammer and I have no idea what else they do in there... I usually end up swearing incredibly loudly then realise that since I can hear them, they can probably hear me and my death threats... No wonder they don't talk to my mum anymore.... oops!

that is messed up set up a spy camera so wen u do go 2 court their wrong will out weigh yours

report it to ur HOA and if it doesnt stop then try to get a different police station to handle it and file a complaint bout how the cops in ur area dont do nething

and putting ur email out there is stupid now ur gonna get so much spam and crank emails

and if ur neighbors dont stop i say fight back

Go to the district attorney's office.  See if they will help.  But, in the mean time, document EVERYTHING!  The exact time and the total incident. EVERYTHING!  If you have a local TV station, talk to them. Newspaper? Same thing. Get and attorney.  Here is the big one!  Contact your state's attorney general.  Send all documentation.  REPORT the stupid judge.
